Tarantella is a game accessible via the village tavern screen, the campfire screen when on a node or the mess screen when on a ship.

Tarantella is a solitaire card game from Italy. It takes its name from the eponymous dance, which, according to Tuscan doctors, cures Tarentulism. This cure takes a long time and requires infinite patience on the part of the patient... One day, one of the patients invented this game to relieve his boredom. The game spread like wildfire across all the Kingdoms and is now very popular with the contemplators, who use it to fill the long hours they spend watching their pigs grow.

You have 7 weekly games. However, you can get 10 games as many times as you like in exchange for 100 gems via premium access.

About the game

The aim of the game is to sort the cards to form four descending suits of 13 cards of the same colour. As soon as a suit is completed, it is automatically removed from the game.

How to play?

The deck is made up of 52 cards of 4 times 13 values which are in descending order: King (K) - Queen (Q) - Jack (J) - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - Ace

Difficulty levels

  • Easy: all cards of the same suit (Spades)
  • Medium: two suits available (Spades and Hearts)
  • Difficult: four suits (Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs)

Game start

The cards are dealt one by one into seven piles. Each pile receives a certain number of cards, from zero cards for the first pile to six cards for the last pile. Only the top card of each pile is face up.

Card moves

  • It is permitted to:
    • Place a card or a sequence of cards on any card preceding the one on which it is placed, regardless of its colour
    • Place a card or a sequence of cards on any empty column
    • It is permitted to cancel a single move or distribution of cards.
  • It is forbidden to:
    • Deal cards if a pile is empty and/or if a face-down card has not been turned over
    • Cancel a card turn-over or a move completing a run of the same suit

Points calculation

  • Forming a sequence of the same colour:
    • Easy level: +650 Points
    • Medium level: +780 Points
    • Difficult level: +910 Points
  • Turning a card face down: +150 Points
  • Each second passed: -1 Point
  • Each time a move is cancelled: -100 Points
  • If the game ends in a win, a bonus is awarded, calculated as follows: Bonus = (Score / 4) + ((400 - time taken) x 10). If the bonus falls below zero, it is not counted.

Note:

  • If the game stalls, the current score can still be registered with the administrators.

Ranking (disabled)

At the end of each month, an overall ranking was drawn up, rewarding the best players from all the kingdoms:

Scores were reset to zero at the beginning of each month, so there's no risk of the same people staying on top every month with their superb scores.

Note:

  • The rewarding system is no longer available.
  • The scores are no longer reset to zero, so you can always check your best result. Challenge yourself for a new highscore!
